Located in an absolutely enviable position, in a few minutes you can reach all the tourist, cultural and artistic destinations of the city. The Santa Maria del Monte stairway, the museums, the monuments, the archaeological areas, the English garden, the numerous churches and the medieval streets.
Caltagirone, the city of ceramics, has ancient origins and brings with itself artistic heritage of unique beauty. The historic buildings, the medieval streets, the Staircase of S. Maria del Monte, the English garden, every corner is enriched with majolica, ornaments and ceramic works of fine workmanship.
The place is 5-10 mins walk distance from the famous La Scala, which is the main magnet point of the city. Besides that, Il Locandiere (#1 restaurant in Caltagirone in accordance to Trip Advisor) is located 5 mins walk distance from the apartment. Free parking for your car is just round the corner.
Really good place to stay. Old refurnished building in the middle of the city, large room and bathroom. Clean, comfortable bed. Only 50 Euros per night. Also, I recommend to visit the owners restaurant. Doesn't include breakfast, but doesn't matter because you can have around the corner a good coffee with a pastry for only 2,5 Euros.
Huge room overlooking the street was wonderful. Very clean and great location. Free internet access was nice for my Kindle. We had dinner at the owner's restaurant too and he treated us too well. As it was our first night in Sicily, we had him make a little of everything. The food & wine was excellent and the price was very, very reasonable. Had a really nice time and if ever back in Sicily and in Caltagirone, would stay here again.
I stayed here on a cycling trip a cross Sicily in May 2013. We arrived quite late in town and many places were full. The rooms are unattended, but the owner turned up from his Pizzeria very quickly. The room was large, clean and quiet. No view, but for only €30 (single) you can't have everything. It did have air con. A big positive was the old area of town that it was in, near the main square and famous steps. Walking out late at night was very atmospheric.
